So...tell us a bit about yourself...and then tell us why you love your job.
Originally from Zanesville, Ohio. My husband Terry and I came to Fl. in 2003 to get away from the cold and to start a new life. In Ohio I was very well known for my creativity and seamstress work. I owned a "Do it all" wedding store where I did floral designs, wedding cakes and almost everything that you would need for that special day. I designed and created many wedding, prom, costumes, padgent gowns for little or big, and many other specialty cothing. When I came here I had to start over. Coming to a new place where no one knew me and my talents. I was determined to take my talents and make it the best that I could. Fabric and designing is my love. I have transferrred all my love for fabrics and trims to window coverings and any kind of accents from cushions to bedding. If its made of fabric and a sewing machine I can do it. My nieces, when they were little thought I had "Magic Fingers." They would be running around the house and saw piles of fabrics and trims and hours later "Poof" they had the most beautiful outfits. Having three boys and no girls, the nieces got the coolest clothes.
Who do you consider to be one of today's unsung heros?
All the single mom's and ladies on their own, that are trying to make it in todays world.
Tell us about your favorite client/friend experience...Alot of my clients become my friends. I worked with one lady that let me go that extra mile. Every window and bed in the house was extreme, with the prettiest fabrics and trims.(and with no budget) What a dream. Everything looked like a castle. It allowed me to push my creative juices to the max..
Describe what a client would experience from beginning to end with your business?
I come the their home with fabric samples, design books, hardware catalogs etc. I try to get to know them and their personallity to find out what they are wanting their dream windows, etc to be (I pick their brains) I try to design something that they would love. I don't like to push what I like, but what they want, that is very important to me. And they feel like they have been a big part of the finished product. I go back to my computor where I have a window design program and create serveral opptions for each window or room. That gives people something that they can actually see. Not everyone has visions. After everything has been agreed on. I order supplies and start the order. I try to get things done very quickly usually within 2 to 3 weeks after I receive the fabrics. When complete, I have the most amazing installers and I am always there. We work very hard to make every detail perfect. And my customers are always very happy with the final product.
As women, we always like to share great deals we've found...or wonderful businesses we have enjoyed working with...what about you...what would you like to share?
I have a friend that does all of the blinds to go with my designs, Connie from "Blinds & Beyond". She is so sweet to work with and so perfect in what she dose. And of course my installers Jeff and Pete from " Advantage Installations" They are great.
What did you think about your experience with Gioia Photography?
We had my granddaughter's senior pictures taken by Yvette, She is great to work with and made me feel welcome to experience the whole photo session. She can capture that perfect expression in someone's face that shows one's inter beauty also.
